Michigan secured its second commitment of the 2027 cycle Monday when Tristan Dare shut down his recruitment early and pledged to the Wolverines. He picked U-M over Ohio State, Penn State Oklahoma and many others.

The Southlake (Texas) Carroll standout received an offer from Michigan June 4. Exactly two months later, the three-star interior offensive lineman announced his commitment to the Big Ten program. He’s the No. 467 recruit in the nation.

“The offer meant a lot coming from a program like Michigan,” Dare told The Wolverines’ EJ Holland earlier this summer. “It’s a blue blood program. Go Blue. I had a friend text me who is a pretty big Michigan [fan]. That’s just who the fanbase is. They are huge about Michigan. You can see that on game days. When that place is rocking, you can hear it through the screen. It’s very humbling.”

Dare helped Southlake Carroll to a 15-1 record as a sophomore. He played right tackle last fall. Rivals considers his school the No. 9 prep program in the nation.

Offensive line coach Grant Newsome is Dare’s primary recruiter, and the newest Wolverine commit values his history of NFL development and experience in Ann Arbor as a former player as well. Michigan really values offensive linemen, and that starts at the top with head coach Sherrone Moore

“It’s nice,” Dare said. “He understands the importance of having a good offensive line. You can see that with how Michigan has been successful over the last few years.”

Dare checks in at 6-4, 260 pounds on his Rivals profile but lists himself at 290 pounds as he continues to add weight this offseason. He also boasts a 4.0 GPA in the classroom. The lineman also visited Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma and Washington this year during a nationwide recruiting tour that helped him reach his final decision. Dare also holds offers from Florida, Florida State, Nebraska, Ole Miss and others.

He stopped by Michigan for the first time June 14. That visit went well and, after just one trip to Ann Arbor, he found his future collegiate home.

Michigan now holds two commitments in its 2027 class, both along the offensive line. Louis Esposito, the son of U-M defensive line coach Lou Esposito, committed to the Wolverines earlier this summer after earning an offer from the program during a strong camp performance.

Dare and Louis both shut down their recruitments early to create the foundation for Michigan’s 2027 class.
