Harbaugh talks offensive line, “great athlete” at tackle

Jim Harbaugh updates Ronnie Bell status, Michigan receiver room

There have been rumblings about Michigan basketball coach Juwan Howard and the Los Angeles Lakers, but they’ve been shot down. His wife, Jenine, said it’s not just about coaching his sons, but “all of his kids” on the team. He loves it at U-M, and though the NBA isn’t out of the question down the road, Howard isn’t going anywhere soon.

But what of Hunter Dickinson, Moussa Diabate, Caleb Houstan, etc.? Are all three really expected to test the NBA waters? And what will it take to get them back to Michigan for another season? We talk about that and more in chat, including potential transfers in (and out).

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh likes his team — a lot

Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan football team, meanwhile, appears to be in good shape for the foreseeable future. Harbaugh noted it “pretty good” was the standard answer about teams out of spring, but feels his group is better than that.

There are two talented quarterbacks in Cade McNamara and J.J. McCarthy (who is expected to be able to throw soon … more in chat). The Michigan running backs and wide receivers are extremely talented, and the offensive line has a chance to be better than last year’s, per Harbaugh.

That’s a big deal since last year’s Michigan group won the Joe Moore Award as the nation’s top offensive line.

Center Olu Oluwatimi is the real deal, and he’s played like it. Trente Jones has the nod at right tackle coming out of spring.

But what of the backups and other young guys? We talk about them, as well, in today’s chat — the Michigan movers and shakers from spring ball.
