CEO Jared Wangler and Valiant Management are hosting a “Meet The Team” NIL signing event following the Michigan football spring game on Saturday, April 2nd.

Over 80 Wolverines will attend the weekend gathering from 3:30 to 5 p.m. ET at Oosterbaan Fieldhouse. Profits from the event, generated through public ticket sales and sponsors, will be distributed to all Michigan student-athletes who participate.

Minimum guarantees are in place and additional NIL compensation will be granted to those with the most seniority and marketability. Understandably, sponsorships are what allow Valiant to generate most of its revenue with tiers ranging anywhere from $25 to $5,000.

Tickets will be available for purchase at M Den locations inside Michigan Stadium for $100 per person. Only 500 spots will be sold, so space is limited. Each fan receives an 8×10 poster for autographs, a seating chart and the chance to meet the 2022-23 Wolverines roster. Stores locations include Gate 10, Gate 4 and Gate 2.

“Valiant Management Group will be hosting the inaugural Meet The Team event on Saturday, April 2nd in conjunction with the expected spring football game. Members of the Michigan football team will be available for a “meet and greet” style event for approximately 90 minutes immediately following the spring game.[…] Since the inception of NIL, our team has worked tirelessly to curate an opportunity that will compensate a greater number of players from the Big Ten Championship football team. This event is intended to accomplish that goal while facilitating interaction between participating players and the Michigan faithful who passionately support them on game days in the fall.”

Wangler Comments On The Event

Fans are encouraged to bring their own items to be signed as well. But only one autograph will be given per Michigan student-athlete on each trip through the line. In addition, the purchase of a ticket does not ensure you walk away with signatures from every athlete. Photographs are also prohibited due to time constraints, and festivities will end sharply at 5 p.m. ET.

It’ll be quite interesting to see how this innovative NIL strategy plays out for the Michigan Wolverines involved.

“The message is, we’re trying to do something for the entire team here,” Wangler told The Wolverine. “Not just the one percent of guys who’ve been making money in NIL. It’s exciting to bring this to the table and get initiatives like this going. I’d like for this to be an every year thing where everyone on the Michigan football team knows, at the end of the spring game at the signing event, I’ll be able to earn a piece of this NIL pie. That’s the goal there.”
