Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh continues to be linked to NFL jobs, while U-M is trying to finalize a deal with him, as well. That didn’t keep Blake Corum from announcing he’d return to the Wolverines for his senior season … something he did after talking to Harbaugh Monday morning.

Corum announced his decision to return on the Rich Eisen Show at 2:00. Though he might have an idea which way the coach is leaning, he said his decision was independent of anything Harbaugh might do.

“That is correct,” he told Eisen. “I’m a Michigan man, I love Michigan, and I will be here one more year and giving everyone at the university and in the surrounding area everything I have.

“I talked to [Harbaugh] this morning. He was ecstatic. He was happy. So … that might be some good news, we shall see. [But] he was happy. We had a great conversation. I did inform him. I wanted to let him know before I let the world know.”

There has been talk in the building that Harbaugh is leaning toward a Michigan return, something he’s put on record. Corum said he avoided asking Harbaugh straight up if he’d be back with him.

“Because I want him to do what’s best for him, I kind of avoided that question,” Corum said. “I told him I support him in whatever he does because that’s how I really feel. I support coach whatever decision he makes.

“That’s going to be a decision he has to make. I love playing for Coach Harbaugh. It’s been fun. I love playing for him, and I’d do anything for him … I think it’s up in the air right now. I think he definitely will come back, but you’re not sure. He has some opportunities in front of him, so he has to make the best decision for him like I just made the best decision for me.

“I’m not sure what he would do, but if he came back, I would love to play for him or one more year.”

Eisen, a Michigan graduate and huge U-M fan, jokingly wouldn’t let it go, asking Corum if getting Harbaugh to join him was “the idea” now. Corum played along.

“That’s the idea,” he said with a laugh. “I’m going to have to go talk to coach right now just to see where his mind at again. That’s the idea. We shall see. Hopefully, he has some god news for us.

“[But] if he thinks it’s better for him to go to the NFL, I wish him the best of luck and I might be able to play for him there. I love coach Harbaugh, but he has to make the best decision for him. I’m not sure what he’s going to do. We shall see.”
