The Wolverine’s Zach Libby traveled to Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman last month to watch five Michigan targets in spring ball, including Top 100 wide receiver Derek Meadows and Top 100 offensive lineman Douglas Utu, who are each currently on official visits in Ann Arbor this weekend.

Michigan’s Push For Bishop Gorman Targets

Michigan recently stopped by Bishop Gorman last month to meet with Meadows, Utu, and their three offered teammates – Top 100 offensive lineman SJ Alofaituli, four-star offensive lineman Alai Kalaniuvalu, and Top 100 2026 defensive lineman James “Tank” Carrington.

Along with Meadows’ and Utu’s official visit this weekend, which is a return visit for both targets, Alofaituli is scheduled to return to Michigan on an official visit June 7-9; Kalaniuvalu will be in Ann Arbor on June 14-16. Carrington has yet to visit the reigning College Football Playoff winners but was offered in middle school and continues to hold a strong interest.

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore, offensive line coach Grant Newsome, offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell, and wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy are amongst the staff members leading the way for the 2025 targets.

Here is what Libby had to say about U-M’s pursuit of Meadows.

“He first appeared at The Big House on April 20 for the spring game, and has grown close with Bellamy and Moore this offseason,” Libby said. “Meadows has family residing in the Detroit area and is also good friends with a number of rostered U-M players, like Tyler Morris. At 6-foot-5, 185 pounds, meadows fits the mold of a bigger-bodied WR on the outside that Michigan is vying for this cycle.”

Meadows is listed as the No. 37 overall prospect, No. 7 wide receiver in the country, and the No. 2 recruit in Nevada, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four primary recruiting media services. Utu is ranked as the No. 53 overall prospect, No. 3 interior offensive lineman nationally, and the No. 2 player in Nevada.

Five verbal commits make up Michigan’s 2025 recruiting class –Top 100 Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick EDGE Nate Marshall, On300 Ft. Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith, four-star Birmingham (Mich.) Groves offensive lineman Avery Gach, four-star Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka, and three-star Alcoa (Tenn.) High tight end Eli Owens

The class is ranked No. 15 nationally, according to the On3 Industry National Team Recruiting Rankings.
