The Wolverine’s EJ Holland was recently at Richmond (Va.) Hermitage for its annual spring showcase, featuring four-star Michigan defensive back target Andre Clarke.

Clarke Recruitment

Michigan extended an offer to Clarke last summer when he attended an on-campus camp in June.

The Wolverines have made Clarke a priority for almost a year now and got him back to Ann Arbor for another unofficial visit this spring. Michigan is now set to host him for an official visit on June 13.

Here is what Holland had to say about his recruitment.

“Clarke is one of the more intriguing prospects on Michigan’s defensive back board,” Holland said. “Clarke plays cornerback, safety, wide receiver and even punter for his high school team. On3 has him listed as a safety, but I like him more as a cornerback and so does Michigan. The Wolverines value his length and athleticism at corner. It would be nice to see Clarke add some weight to his frame and play with more physicality, but he has plenty of upside.”

Along with Michigan, Clarke is set to make official visits to Kentucky and Syracuse this summer. SMU hosted him for his first official visit earlier this month.

Michigan currently has the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 25.2 percent chance of landing him. Kentucky is in second place with a 14.8 percent chance of landing him.

At 6-foot, 165 pounds, Clarke is ranked as the No. 17 safety and No. 185 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 5 overall recruit in the state of Virginia this cycle.

Michigan has seven commits in its 2026 recruiting class — Top 100 Billings (Mont.) West tight end Matt Ludwig, Top 100 Newberry Park (Calif.) High quarterback Brady Smigiel, On300 Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin cornerback Brody Jennings, three-star Cartersville (Ga.) Cass offensive lineman Bear McWhorter, three-star Washington (D.C.) St. John’s EDGE Tariq Boney, three-star Denver (Colo.) Mullen tight end Mason Bonner and three-star Dallas (Texas) Parish Episcopal wide receiver Jaylen Pile.

Michigan entered the day with the No. 19 ranked 2026 recruiting class nationally, per the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings. Michigan is also ranked No. 8 in the Big Ten. USC currently has the top class in the conference.

Michigan also has the No. 10 ranked transfer portal class this cycle, per the On3 transfer portal index.
