The Wolverine’s EJ Holland was recently at Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh to see On300 Michigan linebacker target Nick Abrams go through a spring workout.

Abrams Recruitment

Michigan extended an offer to Abrams in February and quickly became a major player in his recruitment.

Abrams made his first visit to Michigan this spring and is now back on campus for his official visit this weekend.

Abrams recently named Michigan in his final four along with Alabama, Georgia and Oregon.

Here is what Holland had to say about his recruitment.

“Michigan came on a little late for Abrams,” Holland said. “However, Michigan linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary has done a great job of building a strong relationship with Abrams and his family in quick fashion. Michigan needs to land an elite level linebacker this cycle, and Abrams definitely fits the description. He’s athletic, can run and has room to add some good weight to his frame. I think this is a tight recruitment, and a lot will depend on how his official visits go.”

Abrams already visited Georgia. He will see Alabama and Oregon following his trip to Michigan. Abrams plans to make a final decision on his birthday in July.

At 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, Abrams is ranked as the No. 8 linebacker and No. 163 overall prospect nationally, per On3. He is also ranked as the No. 5 overall prospect in the state of Maryland this cycle.

Michigan has the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction with a 19.4 percent chance of landing him. Georgia is in second place with a 17.0 percent chance on landing him.

Michigan has seven commits in its 2026 recruiting class — Top 100 Billings (Mont.) West tight end Matt Ludwig, Top 100 Newberry Park (Calif.) High quarterback Brady Smigiel, On300 Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin cornerback Brody Jennings, three-star Cartersville (Ga.) Cass offensive lineman Bear McWhorter, three-star Washington (D.C.) St. John’s EDGE Tariq Boney, three-star Denver (Colo.) Mullen tight end Mason Bonner and three-star Dallas (Texas) Parish Episcopal wide receiver Jaylen Pile.

Michigan entered the day with the No. 17 ranked 2026 recruiting class nationally, per the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings. Michigan is also ranked No. 6 in the Big Ten. USC currently has the top class in the conference.

Michigan also has the No. 10 ranked transfer portal class this cycle, per the On3 transfer portal index.
