Johnson Recruitment
Michigan extended an offer to Johnson last year and has made him a top priority at the wide receiver position in the 2026 recruiting class.
U-M wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy is leading the way in this recruitment and is off to a strong start as Johnson made his first trip to Michigan in September, returned for another visit this winter and was back on campus for a spring practice.
Now, Johnson is set to be in Ann Arbor for his official visit this weekend.
Here is what Holland had to say about Johnson’s recruitment.
“Michigan needs more size in the wide receiver room,” Holland said. “The Wolverines landed Jacob Washington and Jacob Browder last cycle, but they were the first wide receivers over 6-foot-3 to side with Michigan since Darrius Clemons, who is no longer with the program, and Amorion Walker back in the 2022 cycle. Johnson definitely offers size at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds. He can go up and get it, but he also bends well getting in and out of breaks and showed some explosiveness when I saw him. Michigan is a major player in his recruitment.”
Johnson has already made official visits to Indiana, South Carolina and Penn State. He will see Virginia Tech following his stop at Michigan.
At 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, Johnson is ranked as the No. 15 wide receiver and No. 137 overall prospect nationally, per On3. He is also ranked as the No. 3 overall recruit in the state of Virginia for this cycle.
