The Wolverine’s EJ Holland was recently on the road and saw Top 100 Fort Worth (Texas) North Crowley offensive lineman John Turntine at his spring practice. Turntine is one of Michigan’s top overall targets this cycle.

Turntine Recruitment

Michigan extended an offer to Turntine in May of last year and made him a top priority, with both head coach Sherrone Moore and offensive line coach Grant Newsome visiting him at his school.

Turntine made his first trip to Michigan this spring and is now set to be back on campus for an official visit on June 3.

Here is what Holland had to say about Turntine.

“Turntine is ranked as an interior offensive lineman and probably projects best as a guard,” Holland said. “But at 6-foot-3, 260 pounds, Turntine has longer arms than his height would indicate. He’s also extremely athletic and has really good feet. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him play some tackle as well. Michigan is a true dark horse in the race for Turntine. A lot of people are favoring Texas and Texas A&M in this race, but Michigan is definitely making it interesting.”

Along with Michigan, Turntine has summer official visits scheduled with Stanford, Texas and Texas A&M.

Turntine is ranked as the No. 2 interior offensive lineman and No. 42 overall prospect in the country, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 3 overall recruit in the state of Texas.

Texas has the heavy lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 95.9 percent chance of landing him.

Michigan has seven commits in its 2026 recruiting class — Top 100 Billings (Mont.) West tight end Matt Ludwig, Top 100 Newberry Park (Calif.) High quarterback Brady Smigiel, On300 Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin cornerback Brody Jennings, three-star Cartersville (Ga.) Cass offensive lineman Bear McWhorter, three-star Washington (D.C.) St. John’s EDGE Tariq Boney, three-star Denver (Colo.) Mullen tight end Mason Bonner and three-star Dallas (Texas) Parish Episcopal wide receiver Jaylen Pile.

Michigan entered the day with the No. 19 ranked 2026 recruiting class nationally, per the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings. Michigan is also ranked No. 8 in the Big Ten. USC currently has the top class in the conference.

Michigan also has the No. 10 ranked transfer portal class this cycle, per the On3 transfer portal index.
