Wolverine TV: Thoughts, intel on pair of Michigan commits
The Wolverine’s EJ Holland was on the road in both Nashville and Fort Worth this weekend and had an opportunity to see a pair of Michigan commits — 2023 On300 EDGE Enow Etta and 2024 On300 linebacker Mason Curtis.
Curtis recorded eight tackles and an interception in Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth’s 10-7 loss to Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy on Thursday night.
On the flip side of the coin, Etta recorded six tackles, one sack, one fumble recovery and several quarterback hurries in Colleyville (Texas) Covenant’s 33-27 loss to Fort Worth (Texas) Lake Country Christian on Friday night.
Get Holland’s thoughts on this week’s episode of the Road Report.
Etta committed to Michigan in July over fellow finalists Michigan State and Stanford. He also held offers from Alabama, LSU, Miami, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Tennessee, USC, Wisconsin and others.
“Michigan really has the best of both worlds,” Etta said following his commitment. “I want to do engineering and computer science. I believe they are the No. 7 engineering school in the country. On the football side, they just won the Big Ten championship last year. The football is a no-brainer. The academics are big. I don’t really see that anywhere else.”

Etta visited TCU this month but remains happy with his verbal pledge to Michigan and will make an unofficial visit next month.
Curtis picked Michigan over offers from Kentucky, Michigan State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, West Virginia and others in June.
“I felt at home at Michigan from the time I stepped foot on campus to the time I left,” Curtis said this summer. “My head coach told me as long as I feel like it’s home then I wouldn’t see why you wouldn’t commit. I liked the coaches. They are real. They aren’t giving me anything fake. I also love what they have to offer after football.”
Curtis has remained completely solid to Michigan and visited twice this fall, including earlier this month for Michigan’s blowout win over Big Ten foe Penn State.
