Breaking down NC State women’s basketball’s center rotation through first 2 games

NC State coach Wes Moore isn’t one to dip deep into his bench. He’s been known to roll with his starting five — and a couple reserves to spell the stars for moments here and there — for significant action in games, no matter who the opponent is. And so far, through the first two games of the 2025-26 campaign, Moore has deployed that same approach. Although he has 11 players on the roster, only nine have seen action with just seven of them playing more than 15 minutes combined through the 3-point win over No. 8 Tennessee and the 1-point loss to No. 18 USC this season. While the short rotation isn’t a surprise, the Wolfpack’s lack of deploying its two reserve post players in junior Mallory Collier or sophomore Lorena Awou has been. Neither player has logged a single second on the floor this season as Moore has elected to play sophomore center Tilda Trygger exclusively in the post, and when she subs off, he has opted to slide junior forward Khamil Pierre inside to the center spot. But after losing to the Trojans without scoring a point in the final 4:03 of action, Moore appears ready to look at his frontcourt rotation as the Wolfpack is set to host Maine and No. 17 TCU at Reynolds Coliseum this week.
