BREAKING: Notre Dame center Zeke Correll commits to NC State

NC State football landed its second transfer portal commitment of the weekend Saturday evening. Midway through his Wolfpack official visit, Notre Dame center Zeke Correll announced his commitment.
He joins Wake Forest wide receiver Wesley Grimes in the program’s 2024 transfer class. After spending five seasons with the Fighting Irish, the offensive lineman declared his intention to enter the transfer portal Nov. 27. NC State quickly made him a priority for this year’s transfer portal cycle.
He has one year of eligibility remaining after starting the past 23 games at center for Notre Dame. The graduate student was a fixture in the Fighting Irish lineup for years.
During the 2023 season, the 6-3, 306-pound offensive lineman started the first 10 games of the season at center. Correll exited the Irish’s loss to Clemson with a head injury and did not play in the program’s final two regular season games.
In the 10 contests prior to that injury, he recorded a 61.7 Pro Football Focus (PFF) grade, including a standout 78.0 pass blocking mark. He recorded a pass protection grade above 80.0 four times this fall, but Correll’s run blocking grade drops to a below-average 58.7. The lineman committed 5 penalties all season, and 3 of them came against one opponent— Duke.

Correll allowed 0 sacks during the 2023 season to go along with 2 quarterback hits and 9 hurries in 11 total pressures. He has only conceded 3 sacks over 4 seasons on the field with the Fighting Irish.
The lineman announced his departure from Notre Dame on social media last week.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank my Lord and savior Jesus Christ for walking with me on this journey. Thank you to my teammates who have gone to battle with me and upheld the Notre Dame standard. The people are what make this place special, and my last 5 years here have been nothing short of a blessing. That being said, I am looking for a new opportunity in my final season of eligibility and am entering my name in the transfer portal. Love Thee.”
Coming out of Cincinnati (Ohio) Anderson High, Correll was considered the No. 99 recruit in the 2109. The On3 Industry Ranking considered him the No. 5 interior offensive lineman nationally and the No. 3 recruit in Ohio.
Based on TheWolfpacker.com’s count, the offensive lineman’s decision brings NC State up to 76 scholarships for the 2024 season once the 21 Wolfpack prep commits officially join the program.
