Game balls from NC State’s win over Stanford

NC State coasted past Stanford 59-28 on Saturday afternoon at Carter-Finley Stadium, which marked the first time the Pack logged back-to-back wins this season.
TheWolfpacker.com is acknowledging those that sparked the Wolfpack in the victory with four game balls after NC State’s first ACC win of the season.
QB CJ Bailey: Well, it was another week that the true freshman quarterback looked anything like a first-year college player. Bailey was cool, calm and collected in the pocket and that led to positive results in his fifth-career start for the Wolfpack. He threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns on 15-of-17 passing in the first half, which included completing his last 11 passes of the period. Bailey’s decision making was impressive, including fitting a tight-window throw to tight end Justin Joly in the end zone for his first touchdown pass of the afternoon. The quarterback finished the afternoon 18-of-20 passing for 234 yards and three touchdowns.
TE Justin Joly: Need a catch? Look for the big-bodied tight end to make a play. Joly, the Pack’s leading receiver entering the afternoon, was a catching machine for the Wolfpack. He found a way open in the end zone during the second quarter, which Bailey found him for an easy score. Joly finished the afternoon with four catches for 66 yards and a touchdown.

DE Davin Vann: The defensive end entered the afternoon as the nation’s leader in forced fumbles, and he continued that against Stanford. Vann strip sacked Stanford quarterback Ashton Daniels on the Cardinal’s first drive of the afternoon, which later led to an NC State touchdown four plays later. Vann finished the game with six total tackles, including two for a loss and one sack. He also added two solo stops in the Wolfpack’s win.
S DK Kaufman: For much of the season, NC State’s kickoff return unit had been quiet. In fact, it only had seven returns through its first eight games. But that changed with Stanford in town. Kaufman the Pack’s go-to kickoff returner was able to find success. He returned three kickoffs for 164 total yards, including a 91-yard return in the third quarter that set up a Kevin Concepcion 9-yard touchdown. In addition to his elite kickoff return abilities, Kaufman added two total tackles with 0.5 for a loss in the victory.
