NC State’s coaching staff determined it on Wednesday: senior cornerback Devon Marshall was going to shadow Florida State star wide receiver Duce Robinson the entire game. Wherever the ACC’s leading pass catcher went, the former Villanova transfer was going to follow nearly every time.  Despite there being a 7-inch difference between the 5-foot-11 Marshall and the towering 6-foot-6 Robinson, Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren felt like his veteran defensive back would give the team the best chance to win once the ball was kicked off Friday night at Carter-Finley Stadium. That hunch wasn’t just put on full display once the game started, rather Marshall’s ability to put on a coverage clinic validated the 13th-year coach’s — and his staff — decision. The veteran ballhawk was a critical reason why NC State was able to slow down the ACC’s second-best scoring offense as the Wolfpack earned a 21-11 victory in Raleigh.
