NC State at Pitt game notes

– NC State coach Dave Doeren is undefeated against Pitt with a 2-0 mark, both victories coming on the road at Acrisure Stadium – the only two battles between the two teams as ACC squads. This is only the 12th-ever meeting between the two programs as the series is tied at 5-5-1.

– Wolfpack redshirt sophomore running back Hollywood Smothers leads the ACC with 739 rushing yards. He has put together four 100-yard rushing efforts thus far, tied for the fourth-most in all of college football. Smothers is the first Pack player to have at least three 100-yard games since Nyheim Hines did it in 2017.

– This weekend’s game is set to be played at Acrisure Stadium, home of the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers. NC State is 3-1 in away games at NFL stadiums under Doeren, including a pair of victories at this very building, while he won against USF at Raymond James Stadium (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) in 2014 and lost at Miami inside Hard Rock Stadium (Miami Dolphins) in 2021.
