NC State defensive back Jivan Baly was stopped by the coaching staff walked off the Wolfpack’s natural grass practice fields adjacent to Carter-Finley Stadium three weeks ago. They had a simple, yet possibly intimidating plan: He was going to move to nickel. Baly, a former three-star recruit out of Norcross (Ga.) Meadowcreek, had yet to play a single defensive snap in his collegiate career. But with the four injuries to the Wolfpack’s stable of slot defenders — Isaiah Crowell, Rente Hinton and Jaren Sensabaugh are out for the year, while Jackson Vick has missed the last three games — Baly was thrust into preparing to start at nickel, if needed.  And, well, his number was called ahead of NC State’s 56-10 win over Campbell this past Saturday in Raleigh as redshirt freshman nickel Asaad Brown moved to safety this past weekend. Baly, who logged 30 total special teams snaps through the first five games of the campaign, recorded 65 on defense alone as he posted the first seven tackles of his collegiate career in the lopsided victory.
