NC State football 2025 opponent preview: Notre Dame

For just the fifth time in program history — and the fourth in the ACC’s scheduling agreement with the independent squad — NC State is set to clash with Notre Dame this regular season. The Wolfpack emerged on the winning side of the 2016 meeting in Hurricane Matthew, but it has dropped each of the last two tilts against the Irish by a combined score of 80-38.  Now, the Pack is looking to avenge those defeats as it prepares to face the Irish at Notre Dame Stadium in Week 7 on Oct. 11 (3:30 p.m., Peacock). Although Notre Dame had to replace several key players from its national championship appearance last fall, the Irish are expected to be one of the top teams in the nation yet again this season.
