NC State football 2025 opponent preview: Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech running back Bhayshul Tuten was the star of the show last season. However he went, so did the Hokies as he crossed the century mark in rushing yards during four of the team’s six victories a year ago. While the 5-foot-9, 209-pound back was the engine of the Virginia Tech offense, including a 266-yard performance against Boston College last October, he’s off to the NFL. Now, the Hokies are likely to lean on returning quarterback Kyron Drones in a pivotal 2025 campaign. Drones, who will lead the Hokies against NC State at Carter-Finley Stadium in Week 5 on Sept. 27, is in his third season as Virginia Tech’s first-string quarterback.
