NC State football 2025 opponent preview: Wake Forest

There’s something about Wake Forest’s Allegacy Stadium that has been a house of horrors for NC State in recent years. Since 2013, the Wolfpack owns just a 2-4 record on the Demon Deacons’ home field, for some reason, making it one of the toughest places for Dave Doeren’s teams to win. But when the Pack makes the 101-mile trek to the smallest Power Conference stadium in the country for a Thursday night clash on Sept. 11 (7:30 p.m., ESPN), it might have a better chance of winning in Winston-Salem with a new coach in town. Wake Forest welcomed Jake Dickert, the former Washington State coach, to replace longtime leader Dave Clawson this past offseason. The former Pac-12 coach is viewed as one of the up-and-coming minds in college football, but he has a lot of work to do with a brand-new roster on the opposite coast.
