PITTSBURGH -- Despite scoring 34 points on the road, NC State's offense didn't have enough in the tank in the second half to keep up with Pitt in a 53-34 loss to the Panthers on Saturday afternoon at Acrisure Stadium. Sophomore quarterback CJ Bailey was 24-of-40 passing for 225 yards and three touchdowns, while redshirt sophomore running back Hollywood Smothers added eight carries for 86 yards and a score. Senior tight end Justin Joly paced the Wolfpack's pass catchers with six receptions for a career-best 101 yards and a score. Joly turned in the Pack's highest offensive grade in the defeat, according to Pro Football Focus, while freshman wideout Teddy Hoffmann and redshirt junior right tackle Teague Andersen were right behind the elite tight end.
