NC State's offense was clicking on all cylinders as it downed Virginia 35-31 in a non-conference game Saturday afternoon at Carter-Finley Stadium. The unit excelled in both the pass game and rushing attack in tandem, which allowed the Wolfpack to earn the comeback victory. Redshirt sophomore running back Hollywood Smothers led the offense with 17 carries for a career-best 140 yards and two touchdowns, while sophomore quarterback CJ Bailey was 16-for-23 passing for 200 yards and three total touchdowns. The Wolfpack also had seven different players record at least one reception as sophomore wideout Terrell Anderson logged three catches for 44 yards, while senior tight end Justin Joly posted four receptions for 41 yards. Bailey led the unit with the top mark from Pro Football Focus as 20 different players saw time on the field with the offense, including seven different offensive lineman.
