NC State freshman report: Who played in the ECU win, how they fared in college debut

As NC State found a way to close out a 24-17 win over East Carolina on Thursday night at Carter-Finley Stadium, the Wolfpack received several contributions from true freshmen that worked their way onto the field after strong showings in fall camp. Some of their performances were eye-popping — hello, Teddy Hoffmann — while others earned their first collegiate snaps on special teams in the season opener.  No matter the case, the Pack played five true freshmen in its first game of 2025. That’s important since players can play in up to four games before burning their redshirt. Let’s take a look at who played in the win over the Pirates and what their impact was.
