Northridge (Calif.) SoCal Academy senior center Trevon Carter-Givens had some options, but after officially visiting NC State, he didn’t waste time with his decision.

Carter-Givens officially visited NC State last weekend and had seen enough to cancel visits to San Diego State or USC. He verbally committed to NC State on Thursday and is the first class of 2026 commitment for new coach Will Wade.

The 6-foot-10, 190-pound Carter-Givens has had quite a ride over the last year. Carter-Givens played his first three years at Templeton (Calif.) High, where he averaged 14.8 points, 12.1 rebounds and 3.1 blocks in 2023-24.

Carter-Givens reclassed into 2026 at SoCal Academy and he played traveling team ball with Team WhyNot, which is sponsored by NBA star guard Russell Westbrook. He officially visited UC-Riverside and High Point at this time last year. Carter-Givens played at SoCal Academy last year with St. John’s guard signee Kelvin Odih, who was ranked No. 93 in the country by On3.

Carter-Givens caught the eye of Wade at the Nike Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C., and was offered July 16. Rivals has Carter-Givens ranked No. 108 nationally in 2026.

“Obviously, I would put on some more more weight before I get there and then when I get there, just continuing to build build more more muscle,” said Carter-Givens in a previous interview with TheWolfpacker.com. “So I get bigger and that’s about it.”

The big man averaged 4.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 17.6 minutes per game at Peach Jam, and shot 73.3 percent from the field. He had a Peach Jam-best eight points plus eight rebounds in a 56-49 win over the New York Rens on July 17. He also had six points and nine boards in a. 98-64 win over Albany City Rocks on July 16.

Carter-Givens has earned high-major offers from NC State, Creighton, Florida State, Seton Hall, Texas Christian and Washington. Additionally, New Mexico, San Diego State, San Francisco and UNLV, have offered.

NC State has major holes to fill in the frontcourt for the 2026-27 season, with potential returnees Musa Sagnia and Zymicah Wilkins inside. The Wolfpack have also pursued twin post players Gavin Placide and Gallagher Placide of Waxahachie (Texas) Faith Family Academy, who officially visited in late August, and are hoping to land 6-10 power forward Miikka Muurinen of Scottsdale (Ariz.) AZ Compass, who is playing with Team Finland overseas this month.
