NC State hosts Butler transfer Colt Langdon, a local product, on portal visit

NC State coach Will Wade and his staff have been navigating the transfer portal to built their first Wolfpack roster over the past month. The Pack has gained three transfer commitments to this point — McNeese guards Alyn Breed and Quadir Copeland, and Michigan State point guard Tre Holloman — and it is now focusing on a local product in the portal.
Former Raleigh (N.C.) Millbrook star power forward Colt Langdon stopped by NC State’s campus, On3’s Jamie Shaw first reported. The Butler transfer redshirted this past season and entered the transfer portal with four years of eligibility remaining this past week.
Langdon, originally a 2025 recruit, reclassified to join the Bulldogs a year early after committing to Butler over the likes of LSU, Ole Miss and Virginia Tech.
Although he didn’t appear in a game this past season, Langdon was a local star during his high school career. The 6-foot-7 forward averaged 26.4 points, 10 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.5 blocks as a junior in his final season with the Wildcats, a tenure in which he set the program’s scoring record with 1,758 points. Langdon’s 738 points as a junior remains Millbrook’s most-prolific scoring campaign ever, while he finished his prep career as a 37 percent 3-point shooter.

The former three-star recruit, the No. 10 prospect in North Carolina’s 2024 class, left campus on Saturday evening. NC State needs size on the inside as it has yet to acquire a forward from the transfer portal, leaving incoming freshman Mikey Wilkins as the Pack’s only front court option. Langdon would bring depth and versatility to the Wolfpack’s roster if he were to pick NC State.
In addition to Langdon, NC State is gearing up to host Alabama transfer forward Derrion Reid for an official visit on Monday. The former No. 16 player in the 2024 recruiting class would also be a key addition for the Wolfpack’s front court.
NC State currently has seven scholarships available for the 2025-26 season.
