Following the 2023 NFL Draft, which featured former NC State offensive lineman Chandler Zavala landing with the Carolina Panthers in the fourth round, teams quickly signed a group of Pack alumni to undrafted free agent contracts.
A total of 9 athletes who starred for the program last season will start their professional careers in the upcoming weeks. Here’s the complete list.
- Linebacker Isaiah Moore, Kansas City Chiefs
- Kicker Christopher Dunn, Los Angeles Rams
- Linebacker Drake Thomas, Las Vegas Raiders
- Wide receiver Thayer Thomas, Minnesota Vikings
- Defensive back Tyler Baker-Williams, Los Angeles Chargers
- Safety Tanner Ingle, Los Angeles Rams
- Cornerback Derrek Pitts Jr., Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Defensive lineman Cory Durden, Detroit Lions
- Punter Shane McDonough, Green Bay Packers (minicamp invite)
Each of these athletes will have the chance to compete for an NFL active roster or practice squad spot ahead of the 2023 season.

Here’s a video of the Carolina Panthers calling Zavala to let him know he is officially an NFL Draft pick. When he takes the field in Charlotte, he will team up with Pack football legend Ikem Ekwonu— the lineman’s former teammate.

NC State offered three-star interior offensive lineman Kyle Altuner over the weekend. He holds offers from Penn State, Michigan, Notre Dame and others.
Priority four-star Wolfpack defensive back prospect Ondre Evans locked in his official visit for June 23-25.
