The preseason awards continue to flow for NC State senior tight end Justin Joly, who was named a Walter Camp Preseason Second Team All-America selection this week.

Joly, who enters his second season with the Wolfpack, is one of eight players from the ACC to have been recognized. It’s for good reason that Joly made the list after posting 43 receptions for a team-best 661 yards and four touchdowns a year ago.

The former UConn transfer posted 15.4 yards per reception, which was the fourth-best mark of any FBS tight end. Additionally, he led all FBS tight ends in contested catch rate with 11 of his 13 targets in coverage being caught.

Joly is looking to build off his career-best campaign from last fall to help boost his NFL Draft stock this year. The tight end logged career bests in plays (62 vs. ECU), receptions (7 vs. Duke), receiving yards (95 vs. Stanford) and posted his most touchdowns in a season to this point.

Now, Joly, who was previously named a Phil Steele Preseason All-America selection this summer, is ready to go out and prove it on the field.

More preseason honors are rolling in for the Wolfpack.

Check out the  moment Shelby (N.C.) Crest three-star safety D’Various Surratt committed to NC State.

Will Wade’s next tilt with VCU, a program that helped him reach this point of his career, has a date.

Quote of the day

Surratt’s commitment to NC State was helped, in part, by Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren’s stability in Raleigh.

“The longest tenured coach in ACC is right now,” Surratt said. “They’re winners. I feel like I can help that.
