NC State baseball has six regular season games left, all against top-12 teams, and the Wolfpack is looking to make a surge to host an NCAA Tournament regional this June.

In the most recent tournament bracket projections, the Pack (27-18, 13-10 ACC) is a solid No. 2 seed in a regional, hitting the road for the first weekend of the year.

D1Baseball slotted the red and white in the Greenville Regional, hosted by No. 8 national seed East Carolina. The Pack would face three-seed James Madison in the opening round, while four-seeded Bowling Green would be set to start with the Pirates.

That regional is paired with No. 9 national seed Indiana State, who would host Nebraska, TCU and Saint Louis in the regional.

Baseball America, meanwhile, had the Wolfpack as the second-seeded team in the Columbia Regional, hosted by No. 12 national seed South Carolina. The Pack would face UCF in the first game of the tournament, while Columbia would be set to square off with the Gamecocks.

The winner of that regional would face the winner of the Chapel Hill regional, hosted by No. 5 national seed North Carolina. The other teams in that region included Nebraska, Coastal Carolina and Bryant.

NC State travels to No. 10 Virginia this weekend before it plays No. 12 Wake Forest to close the regular season at Doak Field.

Quote of the day

NC State baseball won its first midweek game in five weeks after it beat Norfolk State 18-0 on Tuesday night. The Pack looked at that as a reset moving into the last two regular season series of the year.

“I think getting back on the win track in these Tuesday games is big for us,” freshman left-handed pitcher Ryan Marohn said. “We have two big series left in the ACC and I think we can build momentum off of this going to UVA this weekend.”
