NC State junior outfielder Josh Hogue was selected by the Miami Marlins in the 15th round with the 438th overall pick Monday afternoon.

Hogue has one year of eligibility remaining and could elect to return to the Wolfpack if he were to choose to. He has to make a decision on his future by Aug. 1, either by signing with the Marlins or returning to NC State after being drafted.

Hogue, who suffered a season-ending broken leg during the 2024 campaign, rebounded to post a .327 batting average with a team-best 18 doubles, 11 home runs and 43 RBI. He posted a team-high .562 slugging percentage, which was aided by 22 multi-hit games during the 2025 season.

The former Santa Fe College transfer hit a walk-off home run against Virginia on April 6, while he was key in leading the Wolfpack to a comeback win at North Carolina with a two-RBI single in the ninth on May 9.

Hogue put together a standout sophomore campaign in 2024 with a .314 average to go with five doubles, four homers, a triple and 28 RBI before he broke his leg in an outfield collision. Hogue was just hitting his stride for the Pack before he underwent surgery, which sidelined him for the team’s run to the 2024 College World Series.

Before his time in Raleigh, Hogue hit .412 with 12 doubles, three triples, seven home runs and 42 RBI during his freshman season at Santa Fe College. He also led the team with a .481 on-base percentage and a .608 slugging percentage as their everyday left fielder, starting all 50 games. Hogue earned First Team All Mid-Florida Conference honors, while he was also named to the All-FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 First Team.

Hogue is NC State’s sixth draft pick of the 2025 event. He joins junior lefty Dominic Fritton (4th round, Tampa Bay Rays), shortstop signee Aidan West (4th round, Los Angeles Dodgers) and right-handed pitcher signee CJ Gray (5th round, Los Angeles Angels), junior right-handed pitcher Shane Van Dam (9th round, Kansas City Royals), senior shortstop Justin DeCriscio (10th round, San Diego Padres) as the Pack’s draft selections this weekend.
