Shortly after NC State coach Will Wade arrived in Raleigh, he set the standard for his high school recruiting strategy in a 1-on-1 interview with TheWolfpacker.com.

“We’re going to be able to recruit the best in the country,” Wade said in mid-April. “In this ‘26 class, we’re going to get another five-star or two. Everybody’s going to understand that we’re here to recruit, and we’re here to bring in some of the best players in the country.”

Now, Wade is looking to back that statement up after already landing a pair of top-30 commits in current freshman guard Matt Able (No. 19 in 2025) and four-star small forward Cole Cloer (No. 28 in 2026). The Wolfpack is set host Farmingdale (N.Y.) Long Island Lutheran five-star point guard Dylan Mingo on an official visit this weekend, a source confirmed. On3’s Joe Tipton was the first to report.

Mingo, the No. 3 overall prospect and the top-ranked point guard in the 2026 cycle, is the second top-20 recruit to visit the Wolfpack this month after Geneva (Ohio) SPIRE Academy four-star small forward Alex Constanza made the trip to Raleigh on Oct. 4.

But Mingo is the highest-ranked player to set foot on the Wolfpack’s campus since Wade took over in March. This will be his seventh official visit of the cycle after he already stopped by Alabama, Baylor, Miami, Penn State, UConn and Washington. He also has plans to see Oklahoma and UNC before his commitment.

Mingo’s relationship with the Pack is strong, especially with General Manager Andrew Slater, who is one of the most-connected New York City basketball minds in the nation. Slater made a trip to see Mingo shortly after joining Wade’s staff this past spring, and that seemed to only strengthen the bond between the two parties.

The 6-foot-5, 185-pound ball point guard also believes in what Wade is building in Raleigh.

Will Wade is standing out for me,” Mingo told Rivals’ Jamie Shaw earlier this month. “Will Wade is a great coach. I mean, he won at McNeese, and I pretty much says it all, but he develops players and he wins and he gets them to the next level.”

Mingo is not in any hurry to make a decision. He previously told Rivals that he would commit between Nov. 20 and Dec. 5, so getting a visit from the top-ranked point guard in the nation is a critical step in the Wolfpack’s pursuit of one of the nation’s best.
