NC State vs. Virginia game notes
– This weekend’s meeting marks the first time since 1948 that NC State and Virginia will meet and it will not count towards the ACC standings as a non-conference game. The Cavaliers and Wolfpack have met 60 times before with NC State holding a 37-22-1 all-time advantage in the series. NC State and Virginia have been league mates since the ACC was founded in 1953, and they shared the Southern Conference from 1922-1936.
– NC State’s run defense limited ECU to 30 total rushing yards in Week 1, the 14th-fewest since Dave Doeren took over in 2013. That marked the 54th time under Doeren that the Wolfpack defense held a team under 100 yards rushing. It was also the fewest rushing yards that NC State allowed since it limited Wake Forest to just seven in 2023.
– This weekend’s game marks the Wolfpack’s 22nd straight sellout crowd at Carter-Finley Stadium, extending the program’s longest such streak. The Pack has played in front of a sold-out home crowd in every game since Texas Tech visited Raleigh on Sept. 17, 2022.
