NC State women's basketball falls in AP Poll after ACC Tournament

NC State women’s basketball won 2 games on its way to the ACC Tournament championship. The Wolfpack lost to Notre Dame Sunday afternoon and dropped 1 spot in the Associated Press top 25 as a result.
Following its setback against the Fighting Irish, the Pack heads into its week away from competition as the No. 11 team in the poll. NC State finished its first postseason tournament with a 27-6 overall record. Notre Dame leapt over the Pack in the latest rankings and now sits at No. 8. The rest of the top-10 teams traded places, but no one fell past NC State.
Despite ending the ACC Tournament with a loss, the Wolfpack did pick up wins over Duke and Florida State last week. Both of the program’s conference foes received votes in the AP Poll.
The Pack totaled 513 points in this week’s top 25. That’s 99 behind No. 10 UConn and 48 ahead of No. 12 Oregon State. South Carolina received all 35 first-place votes once again after winning the SEC Championship. Iowa and USC round out the top 3 after winner their league titles as well.

NC State is no longer the highest-ranked team in the conference thanks to the Fighting Irish’s recent surge. No. 13 Virginia Tech, No. 22 Syracuse and No. 24 Louisville all checked into the rankings behind the Wolfpack.
If NC State’s current AP Poll ranking reflects its standing with the selection committee, the Pack would host first and second round matchups in Raleigh. The NCAA Tournament selection show will take place Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.
