NC State women's basketball remains in top-3 of AP Poll

NC State women’s basketball maintained its top-3 ranking this week, checking in at No. 3 in the Associated Press Poll. The Wolfpack totaled 800 points this week, 61-shy of the No. 2 spot.
After playing just one game last week, an 80-67 win over Liberty at Reynolds Coliseum, the program continued to solidify it standing in the top-25. South Carolina and UCLA are the only teams ranked ahead of the 10-0 Pack. The Gamecocks received all 36 first-place votes and lead the country with 900 points in the poll.
A total of seven ACC programs cracked the top-25 this week, which is more than any other conference. Notre Dame (No. 14), Virginia Tech (No. 16), Louisville (No. 18), Florida State (No. 22), Miami (No. 24) and North Carolina (No. 25) all checked in below NC State.
The Wolfpack held off a couple of second half runs by Liberty Sunday afternoon to remain undefeated on the season. Junior guard Aziaha James led the team with 18 points, while freshman guard Zoe Brooks recorded the second triple-double in program history (14 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists) in her first career start.

Liberty played the Pack close during the program’s only game of the week, and head coach Wes Moore talked about the improvement needed from the team after the win.
“We’re not playing as well now as we were, for whatever reason,” Moore said. “I need to look at the film and try to determine exactly what’s going on. I think we still, even when a team is playing zone, we want to push tempo, still try to score in transition, still try to attack and get into gaps and make things happen.”
