NC State's 2023 recruiting class by the numbers

NC State’s class of 2023 commits wrapped up their senior high school seasons over the past month and then made their commitments official Wednesday when they signed with the Wolfpack. According to head Coach Dave Doeren, this class included 6 athletes who appeared in All-Star games, 12 team captains, 1 conference player of the year and 14 of the 15 high school recruits made the playoffs.
Here’s a breakdown of the Wolfpack’s early signing day class based on their high school and junior college accomplishments.

On3 Consensus three-star linebacker Kamal Bonner
Colquitt County (Ga.) High
Season recap: After switching positions from safety to linebacker, Kamal Bonner racked up 125 total tackles as a senior, 7 for loss, 3 sacks and 1 fumble recovery, receiving all-region recognition as a result.
Team record: 13-1
On3 Consensus three-star cornerback Brandon Cisse
Sumter (S.C.) Lakewood High
Season recap: Brandon Cisse played in the Touchstone Energy North-South All-Star football game and recorded an interception.
He recorded 598 rushing yards, 349 receiving yards, 69 total tackles, 5 for loss, 9 passes defended, 4 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and 10 total touchdowns this fall for Lakewood.

On3 Consensus three-star wide receiver Kevin Concepcion
Charlotte (N.C.) Julius L. Chambers High
Season recap: Kevin Concepcion received all-conference recognition and earned a spot on the North Carolina High School all-state academic team. He made 29 catches for 519 yards and 4 touchdowns and recorded 17 rushes for 156 yards and 2 scores in 9 games. The receiver averaged 35 yards per kickoff return as well. Concepcion was also selected to the Shrine Bowl roster.

On3 Consensus three-star athlete Rohan Davy
Washington D.C. St. John’s College High School
Season Recap: Rohan Davy helped lead St. John’s to a Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title as a linebacker this season. He was selected to Under Armour All-American Game as a safety and received second-team All-Metropolitan honors.

On3 Consensus four-star safety Daemon Fagan
Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage High
Season recap: American Heritage and NC State safety commit Daemon Fagan lost in the 2M FHSAA Football state championship last week. He recorded 76 tackles (32 solo, 4 tackles for loss), 11 passes defended, 2 fumble recoveries and 3 interceptions. The safety made the All-Broward County first team.
Team record: 13-2. American Heritage is ranked No. 12 in the country by MaxPreps.com.
On3 Consensus three-star defensive lineman Jykeveous Hibbler
Senatobia (Miss.) Northwest Mississippi Community College
Season recap: Jykeveous Hibbler recorded 41 total tackles, including 16.5 tackles for loss, 9 sacks and 2 forced fumbles this fall. The lineman is a National Junior College Athletic Association Second-Team All-American.
Team record: 10-2
On3 three-star cornerback Terrente Hinton
Hutchinson (KS) Community College
Season recap: Terrente Hinton recorded 18 tackles and 1 interception for Hutchinson in his lone season of junior college football. The freshman was an All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference honorable mention performer.

On3 Consensus three-star offensive lineman Rico Jackson
Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard High
Season recap: Rico Jackson played offensive tackle for Dillard and helped the team reach the second round of the 2022 FHSAA Football State Championships. He received an invitation to the Broward County vs Dade County All-Star game.

On3 Consensus three-star linebacker Kelvon McBride
Mobile (Ala.) Cottage Hill Christian Academy
Season recap: Kelvon McBride finished his senior year with 76 tackles (54 solo) and an interception over the course of 10 games. He also returned 3 punts for 80 yards.

Arden (N.C.) Christ School
Season recap: Zack Myers recorded 25 total tackles (including 17 solo and 4 tackles for loss), 2 interceptions and 5 passes defended on defense and 25 receptions for 636 yards and 8 touchdowns on offense. The defensive back received first-team all-state and all-conference recognition and an invite to the 2022 Polynesian Bowl.

On3 Consensus three-star offensive tackle Obadiah Obasuyi
Alpharetta (Ga.) High
Season recap: Obadiah Obasuyi played offensive tackle for Alpharetta, a playoff team in Georiga’s 6A division. Doeren said he believes the lineman will arrive at NC State with 11 college courses completed.

Naples (Fla.) High
Season recap: Kendrick Raphael ran for 1,731 yards on 140 carries and scored 22 touchdowns during his senior season.

West Charlotte (N.C.) High
Season recap: Darion Rivers and West Charlotte made it to the third round of the North Carolina 3A state playoffs, and he received a spot on the all-conference team.

On3 Consensus three-star defensive lineman Isaiah Shirley
Boone (N.C.) Watauga High
Season recap: Isaiah Shirley won North Carolina’s Northwest Conference MVP award and earned a spot on the all-state academic team. He recorded 70 tackles (32 solo, 15.5 for loss), 6.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 3 passes defended and 6 receptions for 60 yards and 1 touchdown. The lineman was an honorable mention all-state selection and a Shrine Bowl captain.

Wilkesboro (N.C.) Wilkes Central High
Season recap: Kamen Smith received all-state academic team recognition after his senior season.

Season stats: Lex Thomas completed 40 of 59 passes for 538 yards and 3 touchdowns over three games before suffering a season-ending injury. He has also rushed for 182 yards on 20 attempts and added 3 more scores.

Season stats: Javonte Vereen caught 72 passes for 1,098 yards and 10 touchdowns, and rushed for 36 yards and 5 more scores. He also has 2 interceptions on defense and a passing touchdown.
