NC State’s first 2025 Maui Invitational opponent revealed, schedule continues to form

As the 2025-26 campaign draws closer, NC State men’s basketball’s first schedule under coach Will Wade continues to get clearer. 

Now, the Wolfpack knows who it will open the Maui Invitational, a multi-team event hosted at the Lahaina Civic Center over Thanksgiving, against after the bracket was revealed Tuesday afternoon. 

NC State will play Seton Hall in the first game of the tournament, which is set for Nov. 24 at 2:30 p.m. ET (9:30 a.m. local time) on ESPN2. The Pack will then face either Boise State or USC the following day, depending on the outcome of the first day of action. 

Seton Hall enters its fourth season under coach Shaheen Holloway, who engineered Saint Peter’s magical run to the 2022 Elite Eight. The Pirates went 7-25 with a 2-18 record in Big East play to finish 11th in the league standings last season. Although Seton Hall had a down season last winter, the Pirates went 25-12 en route to the 2024 NIT Championship two seasons ago.

NC State will see a familiar face on the other side of its meeting with Seton Hall as former guard Trey Parker transferred to the Pirates earlier this offseason. He averaged 4.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists on 41 percent shooting across 27 appearances this past season for the Wolfpack.

The other half of the bracket includes Arizona State, Texas, Washington State and Division II Chaminade. NC State is expected to play one of those four teams in its final game of the West Coast road trip. 

Every game of the Maui Invitational will be aired on the ESPN family of networks.
