Pack Pros: Former NC State RB Bam Knight explodes in Arizona Cardinals final preseason game

Former NC State running back Zonovan Knight is looking to make a case to make a 53-man roster for the first time since the 2023 campaign. This preseason has been critical for the elusive ball carrier to do just that, and his final live audition might have made a strong argument in his favor.
Knight, who spent last season on the New York Jets’ practice squad, posted a preseason-best five carries for 83 yards and a touchdown in the Arizona Cardinals’ 20-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders this past weekend.
The Bailey, N.C., native’s most-impressive play came late in the third quarter as both teams were tied at 10. He took a handoff from the Cardinals’ own 33-yard line, sliced right up the middle into open space and took off for a 67-yard touchdown carry.
Knight’s explosive run proved he can still cut it at the NFL level, a key idea he was trying to prove after his 2023 campaign was cut short due to injury. While that carry was critical for his case, Knight has been one of the best running backs in the entire NFL this preseason as he has logged 85 rushing yards over expected, according to NextGenStats.
The former Wolfpack running back finished his three preseason games with 12 carries for 138 yards and a touchdown as he didn’t play more than 19 snaps in any of the three exhibition contests.
While Knight was able to make his case to make the Cardinals’ active roster, he wasn’t the only Pack Pro in action. Here’s a look at the rest of NC State’s players looking to solidify their spots on NFL rosters this preseason.
