Terrell Anderson, the top-ranked wide receiver in North Carolina according to On3, committed to NC State Saturday, Aug. 12. He was one of the top overall prospects on the Wolfpack’s recruiting board and picked the program over Tennessee and Michigan.

The elite four-star receiver is the highest-rated member of NC State’s 2024 in On3’s rankings and the top-ranked wide receiver commit of head coach Dave Doeren’s tenure, checking in at No. 82 overall in the country. Over the past three years at Grimsley High in Greensboro, N.C., Anderson has established himself as one of the best pass catchers in the state and also held offers from Florida, Michigan, UNC and many others.

He announced the commitment during a ceremony at his high school.

Anderson visited Raleigh at least four times during the past year, and after his summer official with the Wolfpack, he declared NC State his leader. Even though he shared the Wolfpack’s standing publicly after the June 16-18 weekend on campus, that news was not a new development for the in-state star.

“They’ve always been my No. 1 school,” Anderson said.

Coming out of that trip, Anderson planned on announcing his decision in early to mid-July, moving up the commitment from a previous early August timeline. He then opted to move it back to Aug. 12 so he could host a press conference at his school.

NC State freshman tight end Juice Vereen hosted him during his official visit, but sophomore quarterback MJ Morris, sophomore receiver Terrell Timmons Jr., freshman wide receiver Kevin Concepcion and three-star quarterback commit Cedrick Bailey Jr. all spent a lot of time with him that weekend.

They all made it clear that they view him as a potential missing piece of an elite offense in Raleigh.

“Seeing that they’ve got confidence in me already, it means a lot to me,” Anderson said.

Anderson and his family also have a very strong bond with wide receivers coach Joker Phillips.

“Coach Phillips is one of my favorite coaches since I’ve been in the recruiting cycle,” Anderson said.

One week after the NC State official visit, he traveled to Tennessee June 23-25 for his second and final trip.

In the days leading up to his senior season, Anderson decided to shut down his recruitment and commit to his home-state school. He is the Wolfpack’s second wide receiver commit of the 2024 class and the fifth in-state prospect overall.

On3 considers Anderson the No. 12 wide receiver in the country and the No. 2 prospect in North Carolina. During his junior season, he caught 64 passes for 1,254 yards and 11 touchdowns.
