NC State is finally back home at Carter-Finley Stadium to host Virginia Tech on Saturday night (7 p.m., The CW) after the Wolfpack was away from Raleigh in each of the last two weeks.

This Thursday’s episode of The Wolfpacker Show previews the matchup between the Hokies and Wolfpack as Tech Sideline managing editor David Cunningham joins to give his perspective on the tilt.

In this episode:

– Cunningham started his guest appearance on the show by giving his experience of what the last two weeks have been like in Blacksburg. Virginia Tech fired Brent Pry and promoted offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery to interim coach, while Athletic Director Whit Babcock’s future is up in the air. Cunningham explained how all of this factors into the rest of the football season.

– Montgomery, who is in his first season at Virginia Tech, was thrust into the top role to replace Pry, but this isn’t his first time as a head coach. The former Tulsa coach has experience being in this spot, and Cunningham explained his impressions of what Montgomery is as a coach in Blacksburg.

– After talking about the new coach, Cunningham shared his takeaways from the Hokies’ first four games. Virginia Tech lost to South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Old Dominion before beating Wofford this past weekend for the Hokies’ first victory of the season.

– Quarterback Kyron Drones is the engine that powers Virginia Tech’s offense. Cunningham talked about what he’s seen from the signal-caller this season and why he has demonstrated inconsistent play this fall.

– Before his time on the podcast was over, Cunningham shared what the biggest surprise for him (other than Pry being fired) was as he watched Virginia Tech this fall, while he also shared what the Hokies need to do to find a way to win the game.

– After the guest appearance, Noah gave his score prediction for the clash against Virginia Tech. NC State is currently a double-digit favorite, according to BetMGM. Will the Wolfpack cover that spread?
