The Wolfpacker Show: Previewing NC State’s linebackers

NC State is set to open fall camp at the end of the month. As the team prepares to return to the gridiron, TheWolfpacker.com is previewing each position group with in-depth reporting and features.
This week is all about the linebackers and defensive backs. The Wolfpacker Show, hosted by Ethan McDowell and Noah Fleischman, broke down NC State’s linebackers during the preview podcast series.
In this episode, the hosts discussed:
– Who left the linebacker room after the 2023 season and who the Wolfpack replaced them with going into the new campaign this fall. The Pack had four players depart, including elite linebacker Payton Wilson, who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
– Wilson, who won multiple national awards last season, was the Wolfpack’s leading tackler a year ago. He logged 138 total stops with six sacks, six passes defended and three interceptions to lead the Pack’s defense. Now, it will be a group effort to replace his production in the middle of the NC State defense.

– Ethan and Noah broke down the depth chart, both the starting linebackers and the reserves. The hosts also discussed how Sean Brown’s move to linebacker from safety could prove to be pivotal this fall. Brown was the third-leading tackler last fall with 66 total stops as a safety, in addition to his five passes defended and two interceptions.
– After breaking down the personnel in the group, Ethan and Noah picked one thing that excites them about the position and one thing that worries them going into the 2024 season.
– To end the show, the hosts took a few questions from TheWolfpacker.com subscribers about the linebackers and answered them. More of those questions will be available in a mailbag later this week.
