NC State swimming has been one of the more consistent programs on campus in Raleigh. Now, it has a pair of current and former athletes set to compete at the World Championships over the next week in Singapore.

Former Wolfpack standout Katharine Berkoff, who earned two medals at the Paris Olympics, headlines the duo, while redshirt junior Quintin McCarty will join her on Team USA.

Berkoff, a 16-time All-American during her five-year career at NC State, is slated to represent Team USA in the 50-meter backstroke and 100-meter backstroke events on the world’s biggest stage this year. Berkoff won the 50-meter American title with a country record 26.97 to become the first under 27 seconds donning the stars and stripes.

McCarty, meanwhile, will represent Team USA in the 50-meter backstroke, an event he won in the U.S. Championships in 24.34 during the June event in Indianapolis. This marks the 11-time All-American and six-time ACC champion’s first trip to either an Olympics or World Championships in the pool in his career.

In addition to the two swimmers, NC State head coach Braden Holloway, the 10-time ACC Coach of the Year, is in charge of Team USA in Singapore, his second stint in the role after he served in it during the 2019 World Championships.

“It’s an incredible honor to be named Head Coach for Team USA at the 2025 World Swimming Championships,” Holloway said. “Representing our country on the world stage is both a privilege and a responsibility I hold with great respect. I’m excited to lead this remarkable group of athletes as we pursue excellence, unity, and gold for the red, white, and blue.”

The 2025 World Championships run from July 26 to August 3 in Singapore. All sessions will be available to watch live and on demand on Peacock.
