The junior from Waverly, Nebraska averaged 4.37 assists per set. She had 389 assists in 89 sets this season. Evans added 158 digs as her defense improved throughout the season.

The 5-foot-9 setter started 17 matches this season alongside senior Nicklin Hames. Hames graduated after five seasons with the Huskers and will now be a graduate assistant at Nebraska.

Nebraska has lost two setters with starting experience this offseason. They will likely pick up a setter in the transfer portal to add to sophomore Kennedi Orr and incoming freshman Bergen Reilly.

Evans, a walk-on, took on a huge role this season when Nebraska turned to a 6-2 offense. She and Orr battle to start with Hames. When Hames was healthy, the All-American was on the court.

With much more experience, Evans will try her luck at another school.

Over her career, she played in 165 sets and contributed 416 assists. Outside of the 2022 season, Evans had 27 assists in 76 sets.

She started in Nebraska’s loss against Oregon in the Sweet 16 match on Thursday. Evans had 22 assists and 15 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. She served her first ace of the season and 12th career ace in the first set.

Evans is one of the three Husker players on Nebraska’s 2022 roster that went to Waverly high school. Sophomore outside hitter Whitney Lauenstein and freshman middle blocker Bekka Allick were Vikings as well.
