Five potential NFL landing spots for Notre Dame’s Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa

Outside of Notre Dame’s Kyle Hamilton, defensive lineman Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa is the only other Irish defender likely to be taken in the NFL Draft in Las Vegas in late April.

Tagovailoa-Amosa was always a likely Day 3 draft pick, but his performances in the Shrine Bowl and at the NFL Combine may have improved his stock so that he is called earlier on Saturday, April 30. While he likely won’t get a look from a team in desperate need of a Day 1 starter (at least for their first pick), plenty of teams could use the sneaky athletic defenseman.

Cleveland Browns

The Browns make this list because there are a number of questions around multiple notable free agents on the Cleveland defensive line. Jadeveon Clowney, Takk McKinley and Malik McDowell all have uncertain futures. Cleveland may elect to take a defensive lineman much earlier to plug a Clowney-sized hole, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see them look for another steal on the defensive line later in the draft. They got one of the biggest 2021 steals out of Notre Dame last year in Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. Would they try again?

Green Bay Packers

The Packers most pressing needs are on the offensive side of the ball; they need offensive linemen and pass catchers — both receivers and potentially a tight end. But once the offensive dust settles and they have those weapons, they could use a defensive lineman like Tagovailoa-Amosa.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars need a lot of work, as is evidenced by their possession of the No. 1 overall pick. There is little certainty about they might do with that selection; they could go the offensive line route (like Alabama offensive tackle Evan Neal) or defensive line route (like Michigan defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson).

But one thing is for sure: they need to add multiple pass-rushing talents. Tagovailoa-Amosa could help fill that gap alongside a Day 1 or 2 defensive lineman or EDGE. As has already been cited, the former Irish defenseman can play in any number of locations, making him an attractive option for the Jaguars. Plus, the energy he brings would be an added bonus for a franchise in need of a jolt.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders could use another defensive lineman, but it’s not the top priority for the franchise right now, which makes Tagovailoa-Amosa a good candidate to be grabbed on Saturday of the draft. Las Vegas is pretty good at developing defensive lineman, just ask defensive tackle Soloman Thomas, who was thought to be an NFL bust before making the move to the Raiders. He had a great year.

Philadelphia Eagles

Like some of the other teams on this list, the Eagles would welcome multiple new defensive linemen with pass rushing skills. Philadelphia was 31st in the NFL in sacks last season with just 29. They’re likely to grab a new member of the front seven on Thursday or Friday, they’d be wise to look at Tagovailoa-Amosa in the later rounds to supplement that group.
