Notre Dame enters Wednesday night’s game against North Carolina State with a chance to get to .500 on the season and above .500 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. That’s all the Irish are thinking about, with their upset win over Virginia from Saturday afternoon in the rear-view mirror.

“This game doesn’t help you in the next game,” Notre Dame head coach Micah Shrewsberry said after the win. “This game doesn’t help you in the next game. When we leave here, this one’s over. We can’t bring this to practice, like, ‘Ah, we beat Virginia, let’s beat our chest.’ No, we gotta play the right way against NC State.

Here’s everything you need to know as the Irish get set to take on the Wolfpack, including a special offer to watch the game on Fubo.

Notre Dame vs. NC State game information

Matchup notables

• NC State made the NCAA Tournament last season for the first time since 2018, and head coach Kevin Keatts went wild in the transfer portal for an attempt at another run. The Wolfpack added graduate guard DJ Horne from Arizona State, junior guard Jayden Taylor from Butler, sophomore guard MJ Rice from Kansas, junior forward Ben Middlebrooks from Clemson, senior guard Michael O’Connell from Stanford and junior forward Mohamed Diarra from Missouri.

• Horne is NC State’s leading scorer at 15 points per game. Also a newcomer: Freshman guard Dennis Parker Jr., who averages 6.9 points per game so far.

• The Wolfpack uses a “four guards and a big man” strategy, as five of the top six players in minutes per game are guards. Senior forward DJ Burns Jr. — a behemoth at 6-foot-9, 275 pounds — starts at the 5, while Middlebrooks and Diarra split time off the bench. He was a very successful transfer addition from Winthrop last season.

• The Irish have gone with a taller lineup as of late, starting freshman forward Carey Booth at the 4. Booth has come on strong since his insertion in to the starting five, scoring 11 points Dec. 22 against Marist and catching fire for 17 in Notre Dame’s win over Virginia.

“You do see improvements, like things that Carey Booth couldn’t quite figure out in November,” Shrewsberry said. “Now he’s getting there and causing turnovers because he’s in the right spot at the end of the game against Virginia.”
