When Blue & Gold spoke with Murietta (Calif.) Valley class of 2025 quarterback Bear Bachmeier July 18 — the day he picked up a scholarship offer from from Notre Dame — he noted that he was already looking to schedule a trip to South Bend when the Irish host Central Michigan Sept. 16.

And Bachmeier informed Blue & Gold this weekend that he’s booked that trip. His high school team plays that Thursday night, which will allow him to make the cross-country weekend trip a lot easier.

Bachmeier ranks as the nation’s No. 112 overall player and No. 9 quarterback in America according to the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3’s own rankings view him similarly, listing him as the No. 102 player and No. 9 passer nationally.

Alabama, Michigan, Oregon, Stanford, Boise State and Oregon State are among the other scholarship offers for Bachmeier. He’s only taken three college visits up to this point; he’s been to Alabama, Oregon and Stanford.

Bachmeier’s older brother, Hank, spent a few seasons as a quarterback at Boise State and transferred to Louisiana Tech earlier this year. His other older brother, Tiger, is a freshman wide receiver at Stanford.

During his sophomore year, Bachmeier threw for 2,853 yards with 26 touchdowns and a 73 percent completion percentage. On the ground, he added 644 yards and 18 scores.

Through two games this fall, Bachmeier has completed 66 percent of his passes for 552 yards with 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He’s added 58 rushing yards on 8 carries as well.

More on Notre Dame quarterback recruiting

Notre Dame has offered eight quarterbacks in the 2025 class, but due to those prospects committing to other schools, not showing much interest in the Irish or — in at least one case — the ND staff moving on, position coach Gino Guidugli and Co. are down to just two signal-callers.

Bachmeier is one of them, and the other is Nashville (Tenn.) Lipscomb Academy’s Deuce Knight, who ranks as the No. 39 passer and No. 3 quarterback according to the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. Knight has previously visited Notre Dame twice, occurring in early April and at the end of July. He’s also expected to visit Notre Dame this fall.

Knight, who transferred to Lipscomb Academy from Lucedale (Miss.) George County over the summer, took in Tennessee’s win over Virginia in Nissan Stadium in Nashville Saturday.
