Notre Dame takes on South Carolina in the first annual Atlantic Coast Conference/Southeastern Conference Challenge at 7:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday in Columbia, S.C. The ACC/SEC challenge matchups are based on the past season’s standings, and the Irish and Gamecocks both fell near the cellars of their respective conferences in 2022.

“The future ACC/SEC men’s and women’s basketball challenges will be outstanding events for our student-athletes, member institutions and fans,” ACC commissioner Jim Phillips said when the event was announced on Nov. 28, 2022. “The SEC, led by [commissioner] Greg Sankey, and our partners at ESPN have been terrific, and there’s great excitement for the first annual ACC/SEC Challenge next season.”

Here’s how to watch Tuesday’s game on Fubo.

Matchup notables

• Notre Dame is coming off its first easy win of the season, a 75-55 win over Maryland Eastern Shore. South Carolina is 5-0 with a neutral-site win over Virginia Tech on its resume, but all but one of its wins — except a 29-point victory over USC Upstate — have been decided by 10 points or fewer.

• South Carolina is No. 67 in Kenpom, while Notre Dame is No. 172.

• It’s been a week since Notre Dame sophomore center Kebba Njie made his regular-season debut in blue and gold. He did not start and only played 15 minutes, still ramping up after a preseason hand injury, but he played well. The Irish will need him at full strength, or at least close to that, when they face the Gamecocks.

• Notre Dame freshman guard Braeden Shrewsberry found his shooting stroke against Maryland Eastern Shore, as he led the team with 13 points and went 4-for-6 from downtown. He’s been inconsistent so far this season, but his performance last week showed how dangerous he can be when he’s on.

• South Carolina has a lot of ways to beat teams, with three players averaging double figures and two more scoring at least 9 points per game. Graduate forward and Wofford transfer B.J. Mack is the leading scorer at 16.0 points per game, while junior guard Meechie Johnson is close behind at 14.4.
