Notre Dame men’s basketball unveiled new uniforms for the 2023-24 season Thursday morning, posting a video with players in the new threads on the website formerly known as Twitter.

The Irish are going with a new look for new head coach Micah Sherwsberry‘s first season. The Indianapolis native, Hanover alum, former Indiana University South Bend head coach and former Butler and Purdue assistant returned to his home state after spending two seasons as the head coach at Penn State.

Shrewsberry also spent six seasons as an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics under then-head coach Brad Stevens.

Notre Dame kept it simple and somewhat old-school with its new jerseys, opting for white and gold for its home uniforms and blue and gold with the road versions. Both versions include a large, cursive “Irish” where it used to say “Notre Dame” in block letters, with a three-leaf clover dotting the second “i.”

The Irish begin their regular season against Niagara at 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 6 at Purcell Pavilion in South Bend.

More on Notre Dame men’s basketball

Notre Dame brought seven new players for its 2023-24 roster, with only three players returning from last season’s 11-21 team.

Only three Notre Dame players, the three transfer additions, have experience playing consistent minutes at the college level. Junior guard Julian Roper II is the only one with multiple years under his belt, but the Northwestern transfer missed much of the 2022-23 season due to injury.

Sophomore forwards Tae Davis (Seton Hall) and Kebba Njie (Penn State) both played a good amount at their respective schools as freshmen, with Njie starting for Shrewsberry’s Nittany Lions by the end of the season. That includes their NCAA Tournament win over Texas A&M.

When Shrewsberry took the Notre Dame job, Njie made it clear he would be interested in following him.

“When I was at Penn State, I had struggles,” Njie said in late July. “But they just believe in me, and they kept going back to me when we really needed it.”

His minutes weren’t consistent, but returning senior forward Matt Zona came on strong toward the end of his junior season. He’s one of three returners, alongside junior J.R. Konieczny and senior Tony Sanders Jr.

Four freshmen — guard Markus Burton, forward Carey Booth, guard Logan Imes and guard Braeden Shrewsberry (Micah’s son) — round out the group. Booth, Imes and Braeden Shrewsberry had originally signed with Micah Shrewsberry at Penn State.
