Matchup notables

• After three losses in a row to Syracuse, Virginia and Duke, Florida State has won three consecutive games against Georgia Tech, Miami and Pittsburgh.

• The Seminoles took No. 3 NC State to overtime and lost 88-80 in Raleigh on Jan. 4.

• Notre Dame is 12-1 all-time against Florida State. The only loss was a 70-65 defeat the last time these two teams played in Tallahassee on Feb. 6, 2022. The Irish won the most recent overall matchup 70-47 on Jan. 23, 2023.

• Florida State is led by sophomore guard Ta’Niya Latson who averages 20.2 points, 4.3 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game. Notre Dame freshman Hannah Hidalgo is currently tied with Latson for the most ever ACC Rookie of the Week award wins. Hidalgo has 10 this season, and Latson had 10 last season.

• Hidalgo is coming off her fifth 30-plus point game of the season. She had 30 points and 7 steals in Notre Dame’s 73-66 loss to Louisville. She only had 1 rebound and 1 assists, though, which is unusual. She usually fills up the entire state sheet, averaging 25.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 5.1 steals per game.

• Florida State also has three other players averaging double-digits in the scoring column this season. The Seminoles score 81.0 points per game, which is second in the ACC behind only Notre Dame’s 82.3.

• Florida State is dead last, though, in scoring defense in the ACC, allowing 71.3 points per game. Florida State has allowed an average of 87.4 points in its four losses. Notre Dame should be able to put a big number on the board, but it will come down to the Irish’s defense on the road. We’ve already seen the Irish allow 86 points on the road at Syracuse in their first of four ACC losses this season.
