For the first time since early November, Notre Dame women’s basketball is tasked with bouncing back from a loss. The No. 16 Fighting Irish (9-2, 0-1 ACC) lost to Syracuse, 86-81, on the road on New Year’s Eve. Here’s how to watch the Irish battle Pittsburgh (6-8, 0-1) on the road Thursday night at 6 p.m. ET.

Matchup notables

• Notre Dame averages exactly 20 more points per game than Pittsburgh, 88.9 to 66.9. The Irish also have a better defensive points per game average, 59.5 points per game to Pittsburgh’s 66.3. The Irish’s scoring margin of 29.5 is the sixth-best mark in the country.

• Irish freshman Hannah Hidalgo ranks third nationally in points per game at 24.5. She also leads the country with 6.1 steals per game. She ranks second on the Notre Dame roster at 6.3 rebounds and first with 6.2 assists per game. She’s earned six ACC Rookie of the Week titles.

• Pitt is led by senior forward Liatu King averaging 19.6 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. At 6-0, she impressively leads the Panthers with 2.1 steals per game as well.

• Notre Dame graduate student guard Anna DeWolfe is three points away from 2,000 in her career. She ranks 11th among active Division I players in scoring.

• Notre Dame senior forward Maddy Westbeld has started all 97 games she’s suited up for in an Irish uniform. Since the injury to Sonia Citron in the Irish’s third game of the season, she’s been the second-best player on the Notre Dame roster behind Hidalgo. She’s averaging 14.5 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.

• Notre Dame has an all-time record of 34-4 against Pitt. The Irish have won five in a row, including the last meeting, 83-43, on Feb. 19, 2023. The Irish have not lost on the road at Pitt in nine tries.
