Matchup notables

• Notre Dame leads the all-time series 24-6. The Irish are on a six-game winning streak and won the last matchup 69-53 in South Bend on Feb. 10, 2022.

• The Irish started junior guard Sonia Citron and senior forward Maddy Westbeld in the same game for the first time since Nov. 15 against Boston College on Thursday. The two combined for 26 points and 18 rebounds.

• Freshman point guard Hannah Hidalgo had 27 points and 10 rebounds on her own. She continues to be the driving force on both ends of the floor for Notre Dame while junior point guard Olivia Miles stays sidelined recovering from last season’s knee injury.

• Notre Dame is also still missing sophomore combo guard Cass Prosper because of a right lower-leg injury. Freshman guard Emma Risch had season-ending hip surgery, and graduate student guard Jenna Brown’s career could be over. She has been on the bench during every game this season in street clothes.

• With Miles, Prosper, Risch and Brown unavailable, Notre Dame has nine healthy scholarship players. Former walk-on Sarah Cernugel and Pepperdine transfer Becky Obinma do not figure into the regular rotation a whole lot, so Ivey is rocking with a seven-player rotation in games that aren’t blowouts. When Citron was out for nine games with a knee injury, the situation was even more dire.

Miami, meanwhile, is led by junior guard Jasmyne Roberts at 11.3 points per game. She’s the only Hurricane in double-digits on the year. The Canes started the season 8-0 before losing to then-No. 10 Baylor, 75-57, on Dec. 16. Miami also has losses to then No. 19 Louisville, Boston College and then-No. 11 Virginia Tech. The one conference win was over Wake Forest last Sunday.
