What to know about Notre Dame women’s basketball vs. Syracuse

It’s a big night at Purcell Pavilion. For the first time this season, Notre Dame is hosting a ranked opponent. And it just so happens to be a team the Fighting Irish previously lost to this season.

Here’s everything you need to know about No. 15 Notre Dame hosting No. 22 Syracuse.

• Syracuse’s lone ACC loss came at North Carolina on Jan 4. The Tar Heels won 75-51. Notre Dame also lost to North Carolina, 61-57, on Jan. 7.

• The Orange are led by senior guard Dyaisha Fair, who’s averaging 20.5 points per game in her fifth season of college basketball and second at Syracuse. She spent the first three years of her career at Buffalo where she averaged at least 22.0 points per game every season.

• Syracuse is the No. 1 offensive rebounding team in the ACC. The Orange average 16.9 offensive boards per game. Notre Dame ranks fourth in the ACC at 14.5 offensive rebounds per game. Syracuse had 20 offensive rebounds in an 86-81 victory over Notre Dame Dec. 31. The Irish had 14. • Notre Dame continues to stick to as seven-player rotation barring foul trouble. This past Sunday in a 75-56 win at Wake Forest, senior center Nat Marshall and sophomore guard KK Bransford were the only Irish players off the bench. Marshall played 10 minutes and did not score any points. She had 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Bransford scored 10 points in 24 minutes. She added 4 rebounds and 2 assists as well.

• Irish freshman guard Hannah Hidalgo has three more 20-plus points games (15) than anyone else in the ACC. She’s coming off a 21-point performance Sunday.
