Bo Bauer is getting another shot in the NFL. On Saturday, the former Notre Dame linebacker announced on his Instagram that he had signed with the Washington Commanders. He did not specify if he signed with the team as a free agent or was only invited to participate in rookie minicamp.

After going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, Bauer participated in the Seattle Seahawks’ rookie minicamp last spring. However, his NFL stint did not last beyond that … until Saturday.

Bauer joins former Irish quarterback Sam Hartman and EDGE Javontae Jean-Baptiste in Ashburn, Va. The Commanders selected Jean-Baptiste with the No. 222 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Hartman went undrafted but signed on with Washington as a free agent.

In five years with the Irish, Bauer appeared in 56 games and amassed 120 tackles, 70 of which were solo. He also had 11 TFL, 2.5 sacks, 8 passes defensed and 2 interceptions. His graduate student season in 2022 was cut short due to a knee injury.

Now, 18 months after his football career was in question, Bauer has another chance to carve out a path in the professional ranks. The Commanders’ rookie minicamp will occur from May 3-6 or May 10-13.
